Doing our part to fill the skilled labor gap through partnership with the University of Louisville Speed School and Jefferson County Public Schools.
HELPING STUDENTS TRANSITION TO SKILLED MANUFACTURING CAREERS
For the last 30 years, the United States has stopped encouraging public school students to pursue skilled manufacturing jobs and has outsourced many manufacturing jobs overseas. As a result, there is a huge shortage of skilled labor in Louisville and the United States as a whole. To remain competitive, manufacturers like Precision Metalworks must develop a pipeline of skilled workers. We have partnered with other regional manufacturers in the Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KY FAME) to create a career pathway, apprenticeship style educational program for students.
The Precision Metal Works intern program is designed to help engineers-in-training learn the skills they need to be competitive in today
FROM STUDENT TO ENGINEER
Our intern program brings in the best and brightest from local community colleges and universities to help them make the transition from student to engineer. In most cases, our interns are asked to stay on board as full-time team members. Interns get experience in manufacturing processes and technology, including welding, automation and robotics, stamping technology, project management, die sensoring, powder coating, and quality control.
